Foo Fighters Add Nirvana, Led Zeppelin Members, and Pink to Line-up for Taylor Tribute Concerts

Foo Fighters have announced more artists to the line-up for the upcoming Taylor Hawkins tribute concerts this September. Hawkins has already received tons of tributes from fans, friends, and his bandmates for his contribution to music. However, the two concerts in Los Angeles and London will bring everyone together to celebrate one of the best drummers in rock.

Foo Fighters and Hawkins’ family have announced two tribute concerts slated for September in London and LA (per Variety). The first concert is on Sept. 3 at London’s Wembley Stadium and the second on Sept. 27 at the Kia Forum in LA.

Tickets went on sale on June 17 via the Foo Fighters’ website.

Announcing the double event, Foo Fighters released the following statement:

“Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee will come together with the Hawkins family to celebrate the life, music and love of their husband, father, brother and bandmate with The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts.

“As one of the most respected and beloved figures in modern music, Taylor’s monolithic talent and magnetic personality endeared him to millions of fans, peers, friends and fellow musical legends the world over. Millions mourned his untimely passing on March 25, with passionate and sincere tributes coming from fans as well as musicians Taylor idolized.

“The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts will unite several of those artists, the Hawkins family and of course his Foo Fighters brothers in celebration of Taylor’s memory and his legacy as a global rock icon—his bandmates and his inspirations playing the songs that he fell in love with, and the ones he brought to life.”

Foo Fighters announce more artists in the line-up for Taylor Hawkins tribute concerts

When tickets went on sale on June 17, Foo Fighters announced the full line-ups for both shows.

The line-up for the London concert includes prodigy drummer Nandi Bushell, The Police’s Stewart Copeland, Liam Gallagher, Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Supergrass, Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor, Wolfgang Van Halen, The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde, Rush’s Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee, Nile Rodgers, Mark Ronson, Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, and Dave Grohl’s Nirvana bandmate, Krist Novoselic.

Special guests include Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock.

The LA show’s line-up includes Alanis Morissette, who Hawkins played drums for during the Jagged Little Pill tour before joining Foo Fighters, Miley Cyrus, Joan Jett, Pink, Gene Simmons, Nikki Sixx, Nancy Wilson, and Hawkins’ good friend Chad Smith.

Members of Queen, Rush, Copeland, Jones, Homme, Van Halen, Novoselic, and Ronson will also play at the LA concert.

According to the line-up list on Foo Fighters’ Twitter, there are still more announcements to come.

Hawkins’ wife thanked fans for their support
The drummer’s widow, Alison, has also released a statement about the upcoming Foo Fighters Taylor Hawkins tribute concerts. She thanked fans for their ongoing support.

She wrote via Twitter, “My deepest thanks and admiration go out to the global Foo Fighters community and Taylor’s fans far and wide for the outpouring of love each and every one of you have shown our beloved Taylor. Your kindness has been an invaluable comfort for my family and me during this time of unimaginable grief.

“Taylor was honored to be a part of the Foo Fighters and valued his dream role in the band every minute of his 25 years with them. We consider every band member and the extended Foo Fighters team our family. Taylor’s endearing spirit and deep love of music will live on forever through collaborations he so enjoyed having with other musicians and the catalog of songs he contributed to and created.”

Foo Fighters canceled all upcoming tour dates shortly after they announced Hawkins’ death on March 25, but fans will get to celebrate the drummer’s life with the band and so many great artists.
