Gene Simmons Says KISS Is The Hardest Working Band Out There

KISS bassist Gene Simmons spoke to Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier and opened up about his extraordinary stage costumes and live performances. Also, the musician defined KISS as a band that worked harder than many others in the world for a very long time.

Since they were first founded in 1973, KISS members became very popular and influential for their successors and young people with their unique stage looks, makeups, and shows, including fire breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, and shooting rockets with many more. Along with them, Stanley, Simmons, Frehley, and Criss created personas, The Starchild, The Demon, The Space Ace, and The Catman.

According to their choices, the band members wore different makeup looks and costumes, which has always been fascinating for their longtime audience. Therefore, attending KISS live shows was one of the best experiences that they had, considering these musicians’ efforts to work on approaches to the rock music industry. During his interview, Simmons drew attention to wearing his seven to eight-inch platform heels, dragon boots, studs, leather, and armor of about 40 pounds.

In addition, Simmons has to run, fly, and keep playing his bass nonstop with these outfits and gears despite his age, so he highlighted that both himself and the whole band worked hard, and he’s proud of this. Then, the bassist claimed that the singers like Mick Jagger, Bruno Mars, or Beyoncé wouldn’t perform wearing them without passing out in a short time.

Simmons said in his interview that:

“You got to understand, we love Jagger and Bruno Mars and Bono and anybody else, they’re all great, but if you put those guys, Beyoncé, put Beyoncé in my outfit with seven to eight-inch platform heels, dragon boots that each weighs as much as a bowling ball, the entire outfit, studs, leather, and armor is about 40 pounds. The guitar and the studs are 12 pounds by themselves. Then, you got to spit fire, fly through the air and do that for two hours. They would pass out within a half-hour. We are the hardest working band out there and take pride in it. Not every band should be out there too long.”
