Why Slash Refuses To Draw Comparisons Between Myles Kennedy And Axl Rose

Slash, the guitarist for Guns N’ Roses, recently spoke with Goldmine and answered questions about his musical career in-depth. When asked about the parallels and differences working with the two, the guitarist did not make the comparison between Myles Kennedy and Axl Rose.

Slash is well-known for his backing band with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators in addition to his role in Guns N’ Roses. After releasing his solo self-titled debut album in 2010, the guitarist embarked on a promotional tour alongside well-known performers, such as Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge. Later, Slash began collaborating on his records with his touring crew, Todd Kerns, Brent Fitz, and Kennedy.

Together, they produced the 2012 album “Apocalyptic Love,” which debuted at number two on the Canadian Albums Chart. When Axl Rose declined to attend the band’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that year, Kennedy represented GN’R instead.

Together with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, Slash released his third studio album, “World on Fire,” in 2014. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 list at position number ten. The following album Kennedy and Slash performed together was “Living the Dream.” It debuted on the Billboard 200 at number 27 and sold about 20.000 copies.

When asked to compare Kennedy and Axl Rose in terms of working with them, Slash said in a recent interview that the two are completely different. The guitarist claims that the two are great at what they do. There is nothing to compare them to, though. Slash said he hadn’t thought about how the two people compare and contrast.

Slash responded when asked about a comparison between Myles Kennedy and Axl Rose:

“It’s not something that you’re conscious of because they’re just two very different people, you know what I mean? So, there’s nothing about either one of them that makes me think about the other. Myles does what he does, and he’s got a very specific personality. Axl does what he does, and he’s got a very specific personality.

And I never really think about the similarities and the differences. I’m looking forward to going out doing the states with the Conspirators. It’s been a while, so I’m looking forward to that. It’s going to be good. I’m excited about it.”

The guitarist, who has collaborated with Myles Kennedy and Axl Rose for a considerable amount of time, praised both of them as outstanding musicians. He has stated that these two can hardly be compared because they have nothing in common. Slash has also expressed to Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators his excitement for his impending plans.
